It is now a widely known fact that Honda is introducing a subcompact crossover SUV to complement the compact CRV. The 2016 Honda HRV will be able to boast with class-leading highway fuel economy numbers, at least for the time being since mini crossover market seems to be coming to life and we expect further new models down the road. The new Honda HRV 2016 had its world premiere at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
2016 Honda HRV redesign
The 2016 Honda HRV shares its platform with Fit hatchback, but there are plenty of differences in their design. This crossover SUV comes with handsome frontal fascia which combines plastic grille with a chrome garnish. Moreover, lower part of the bumper is also stylish, and laid-back headlights fit the picture well. Out back, apart from thick pillars, 2016 HRV features a large tailgate and very big tail-lights which are split in half by it. There are eight available 2016 Honda HRV colors: Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Deep Ocean Pearl, Milano Red, Misty Green Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Mulberry Metallic and White Orchid Pearl.
Interior isn’t really trademark Honda’s. Dual screen layout has been discarded in favor of more conventional and simple, single touch screen display on a flat-top dash. This, 7-inch unit is responsible for all infotainment purposes, and the car possesses plenty of them even though it is one of the smallest crossovers in the market. However, most of these options are only available if you decide to go with top grade models. All standard safety systems are offered across the board. 2016 Honda HRV receives dual-stage front airbags, driver and passenger’s side airbags, and side curtain bags in both rows of seats. Moreover, it gets anti-lock brakes, brake assist and a few more features.
2016 Honda HRV specs
The all-new 2016 Honda HRV promises to spice things up in fast-growing subcompact crossover market. Right now, it has the best fuel efficiency and nice design which all Honda’s have. Even though it has a single powertrain, there are couple of drivetrain configs and couple of transmission options as well, which make up for the lack of engine choices.
Japanese decided to fit new Honda HRV 2016 with 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine which is supposed to give it 138 horsepower and 127 pound feet of torque. These are respectable figures and subcompact should fare just fine with them, given its small frame. Moreover, the car will be offered with both front- and all-wheel drive configurations, as well as with CVT and 6-speed manual transmission.
Honda HRV 2016 price and mpg
The Honda HRV 2016 with front-wheel-drive system and CVT automatic gearbox is rated at 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway which translates to 31 mpg combined. Prices aren’t disclosed yet, but 2016 Honda HRV should have price tag in range from $20,000 to $25,000.
