The all-new 2017 Dodge Barracuda is one of the most anticipated muscle car models to be revived from history books. According to rumors this two-door coupe will remain a true muscle car, but will also borrow some elements from the supercar world, such as light-weight materials – carbon fiber, aluminum and other top-notch materials, that will be able to make the new Barracuda 250 pounds lighter, compared to the similar models. The car will feature exterior redesign, as well, making it look more aggressive and powerful than ever before. The vehicle will be slightly shorter in height, which will increase the aerodynamic capabilities and it will look leaner, too. Of course, the new Barracuda will feature abundance of top-notch technology on the inside, including entertainment and safety features.
Powertrain and Performance of 2017 Dodge Barracuda
One of the most important aspects of any muscle car is, of course, its heart under the hood. The new Barracuda should have three engine options to choose from. Starting with the most powerful one, that really suits a muscle car like this, will be the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 engine, capable of producing more than 700 horsepower, with a maximum output of around 650 pounds-feet of torque. Performance-wise, this engine will provide astounding acceleration and will be able to propel the car from 0 to 62 in just 3.3 seconds, which is in the supercar range.
One of the major reasons for such magnificent acceleration is the new 8-speed automatic transmission system, paired with a new gearbox software. The top speed this engine will (theoretically) be able to achieve is around 200 mph, but in reality, the number is a bit lower. Nevertheless, it is still one fast muscle car. The medium-power engine will be a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine, which will provide a much better fuel economy compared to the 6.2-liter beast. The least powerful engine, but one that will be the most fuel efficient is a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder Tiger-shark engine.
The Tiger-shark engine is one of the most advanced four-cylinder engines in the world. It will feature the second generation MultiAir 2 technology, developed by combined forces of Dodge and Fiat engineers, which will move the fuel economy ladder even further. Performance-wise, the engine will be able to produce up to 184 horsepower, with a peak torque output of around 172 pounds-feet.
2017 Dodge Barracuda Exterior and Design
As mentioned, the new Barracuda will feature a radical redesign, which will transform the car into a mean-looking driving machine. At the front, the car will feature a single-body thin grille, which will connect the par of LED headlights. The daytime running lamps are circumcising the main lights, which is a pretty neat detail. It will feature a large front bumper, which will have a wide and thin front air-intake opening at the bottom. Very little room is left for the fog lights, which will be placed at each end of the front bumper. The car itself is a bit lower than its predecessor, making it more elegant and leaner, especially on the side. The new platform will underpin the new Barracuda and it will feature considerable amount of light-weight materials, such as carbon-dioxide fiber and aluminum alloys.
Interior and Features of 2017 Barracuda
On the inside, the new model will feature improvements, as well. It will feature a more modern design, high-quality materials and abundance of technology equipment, including an improved dashboard, new infotainment system, with integrated 8.4-inch LCD touchscreen and navigation system. Leather upholstery and chrome trim elements will most likely be standard as well. As far as the safety equipment is concerned, the car will have all the latest safety features, including dual ABS, traction control, front and side airbags and more.
2017 Barracuda Dodge Price
As far as the price is concerned, the new 2017 Dodge Barracuda will likely cost at around $60,000 for the version with the base model. It is expected to come out by the end of 2017, but as none of this is official, only thing left for us is to hope that this car is going to see the light of day.
Her’s a reminder just how mean Barracuda was:
